Kangana Ranaut reacted to Twisha Sharmaโ€™s death case and urged young women to prioritise careers and financial independence before marriage.

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has reacted to the death of Twisha Sharma, sharing a strongly worded note urging young women to become financially independent before marriage.

Twisha Sharmaโ€™s death in Bhopal has sparked nationwide discussions around dowry harassment, emotional abuse and the pressures faced by married women. Her family has alleged that she faced harassment after marriage, while police investigations into the case remain ongoing.

Kangana Ranaut shares emotional note

Taking to Instagram Stories, Kangana reflected on what she described as the vulnerability many married women face in Indian society. She wrote, โ€œSo many tragic news about married young women comes up every day. Many of these young, educated ladies even beg their parents to help them out of suffocating situations before tragedies strike them, but Indian society is notorious for abandoning daughters once they are married.โ€

โ€˜Your career is more importantโ€™

Kangana also urged young women to prioritise careers and financial independence over societal pressure surrounding marriage.ย She added, โ€œYour career is more important than anyone else in your life. Think about marriage only after you are independent. Please, you have to be your own hero. No one is coming to save you.โ€

She further wrote that โ€œwhat you do and who you are is more important than who you marry,โ€ encouraging women to build lives based on independence and self-worth rather than social expectations.

Twisha Sharma case sparked national outrage

Twisha Sharma, a former Miss Pune contestant and actor, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal earlier this month under suspicious circumstances.

Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of harassment and alleged dowry-related abuse. However, her
mother-in-law said the actress had substance addiction. A court recently observed that her death took place within six months of marriage under โ€œunnatural circumstancesโ€ while rejecting anticipatory bail pleas in the case.

The incident has reignited conversations around domestic abuse, dowry harassment and the social pressures placed on married women in India.
