Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $2 billion worldwide in 17 days. In India, Tom Holland’s film has earned Rs. 467.05 crore net in 18 days.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially joined the $2 billion club.ย The Tom Holland-led Marvel film crossed the milestone after three weekends in theatres, becoming only the eighth film in history to gross more than $2 billion worldwide and the second-fastest to reach the mark, behind Avengers: Endgame. The film has grossed around $2.02 billion globally, with $785.8 million coming from North America and about $1.24 billion from international markets.

The third weekend alone brought in an estimated $188.7 million worldwide, including $70 million in North America and $118.7 million internationally. That gave Brand New Day the second-biggest third weekend ever in North America, behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The milestone also takes the latest Spider-Man film past Spider-Man: No Way Home, which finished its theatrical run with $1.92 billion worldwide.

The film closed its opening week at Rs. 334.75 crore, setting up another strong run in its second week. It added Rs. 108.65 crore in Week 2.ย The third weekend has brought in a further Rs. 23.65 crore, taking the overall India net collection to Rs. 467.05 crore.

The India performance has remained notable even as new releases entered the market. By its third weekend, Brand New Day was facing competition from films including Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947.

Hindi version leads among dubbed languages

The film’s India performance also reflects the growing importance of dubbed releases for Hollywood films.ย Of the Rs. 467.05 crore net collected in India so far, the English version accounts for Rs. 255.50 crore, while the Hindi version has contributed Rs. 169.72 crore.

The Tamil version has earned Rs. 24.44 crore, followed by Telugu at Rs. 16.59 crore. The Malayalam and Kannada versions have contributed Rs. 0.48 crore and Rs. 0.32 crore respectively.

That means the Hindi version alone accounts for more than a third of the film’s India net total, a significant contribution to the film’s overall performance.ย The film was released in India a day before its global release, opening in six languages on July 30.

A new high for Spider-Man

The $2 billion milestone puts Brand New Day in a particularly small group of films.

It is now the eighth movie ever to cross $2 billion worldwide, joining titles such as Avengers: Endgame, Avatar, Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic, Avatar: The Way of Water and Avengers: Endgame.

More significantly, it has done so in just 17 days, according to Variety, making it the second-fastest film to achieve the milestone. Avengers: Endgame reached $2 billion in 11 days.

The film’s performance also gives Sony Pictures another major box-office record. Brand New Day has now surpassed No Way Home to become the studio’s highest-grossing film worldwide.

For Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, the numbers are another reminder of the character’s extraordinary pull across markets. In India, that appeal has extended beyond English-speaking audiences, with the Hindi version alone crossing the Rs. 169 crore mark in net collections.

Three weeks into its run, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already in rare box-office territory. Whether it can keep climbing from here will depend on how long it can sustain its momentum as competition increases, but the $2 billion milestone has already placed it among the biggest global hits in cinema history.
