AB de Villiers joins AI-powered cricket platform as Super Coach
South Africa skipper AB de Villiers is appointed one of the “Super Coaches” of the AI-powered sports technology platform โ Kabuni โ on Thursday. He thus joins previously-revealed Super Coaches former India captain Sourav Ganguly and ex Australia all-rounder Shane Watson.
ย
“This collaboration brings together Kabuni’s cutting-edge technology with AB de Villiers’ deep cricketing expertise, creating a powerful blend of data-driven insights and real-world experience for aspiring cricketers,” Kabuni said in a statement.
ย
Fans aged 12-16 years in India will be able to compete for a chance to play for de Villiers’ team through a new nationwide tournament launching in June, utilising Kabuni’s technology.
ย
“Cricket has always been about expression for me โ finding new ways to solve problems and push the limits of what’s possible. What Kabuni is building is incredibly exciting because it gives young players a platform to explore their game, trust their instincts, and develop in a way that feels natural to them,” de Villiers said.
ย
Kabuni’s platform is designed to transform traditional net practice by capturing player movement and ball tracking in real time, translating it into simple, actionable feedback. With its unique โ1% improvementโ approach, the system focuses on small, immediate corrections that lead to meaningful performance gains over time.
ย
“AB de Villiers is one of the most special players cricket has ever seen. His ability to reimagine the game and perform under pressure aligns beautifully with what weโre building at Kabuni โ a platform that empowers players not just technically, but creatively and mentally.
ย
“With AB on board, we’re taking another massive step towards redefining how the next generation learns and experiences the sport,” Nimesh Patel, Founder & CEO, Kabuni, said.
