The wait for Solo Leveling just got a little more exciting!
Instead of announcing a third season straight away, Crunchyroll, Aniplex and D&C Media have officially unveiled Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, an anime feature film that will continue Sung Jinwoo’s story from where Season 2 ended. While the studios have stopped short of revealing the plot, the movie’s title, concept visual and where the anime currently stands in the manhwa have already sparked intense speculation among fans.
So, what can viewers realistically expect?
Where Season 2 left off
Season 2 concluded with the spectacular Jeju Island Arc, cementing Sung Jinwoo as one of the world’s strongest Hunters after defeating the Ant King and dramatically changing the global balance of power. However, that victory also marked the beginning of a much larger mystery.
Questions surrounding the mysterious System, the Shadow Monarch, the Monarchs and the Rulers remained largely unanswered, making the next phase of the story significantly more lore-heavy than the action-focused Jeju Island battles. That’s exactly what the title Beyond the System appears to hint at.

The Ahjin Guild Arc is almost certain
If the anime continues adapting the manhwa in sequence, the movie will almost certainly begin with the Recruitment Arc, followed by the Ahjin Guild Arc.
These chapters focus less on large-scale dungeon battles and more on Jinwoo’s growing influence. After rejecting offers from Korea’s biggest guilds, Jinwoo finally establishes his own organisation, Ahjin Guild, alongside his loyal friend Yoo Jinho. Rather than assembling a massive team, Jinwoo chooses an unconventional path, proving that he alone is powerful enough to clear high-level gates.

The arc also introduces several important international players and expands the world beyond Korea, setting the stage for the conflicts that follow. While quieter than Jeju Island, these chapters are crucial because they establish Jinwoo not just as the strongest Hunter, but as an independent force.
The Double Dungeon Arc could be the movie’s climax
The biggest talking point among fans is the Double Dungeon Arc. Although the studios have not confirmed which chapters the film will adapt, many fans believe the movie will culminate in Jinwoo’s return to the infamous Cartenon Temple, the very dungeon where his journey began. The movie’s title and teaser visual strongly point in that direction, though this remains speculation until an official synopsis is released.
This isn’t just another dungeon raid. The Double Dungeon Arc finally answers one of the series’ oldest questions- What exactly is the System?

Without venturing into spoiler territory, the arc reveals the truth behind Jinwoo’s mysterious levelling ability, introduces one of the franchise’s most important characters, and fundamentally changes everything fans thought they knew about his powers. Many manhwa readers consider it one of the defining turning points of the entire story.
Why a movie makes sense
Unlike Jeju Island, which featured multiple parallel battles involving dozens of Hunters, the Ahjin Guild and Double Dungeon arcs revolve primarily around Jinwoo himself. The emotional stakes are deeply personal, the action is tightly focused, and the story steadily builds towards one enormous revelation rather than a series of disconnected fights.
That structure naturally lends itself to a theatrical feature. If the film does indeed end with the Double Dungeon Arc, it would also leave Season 3 free to dive into the escalating conflict involving the Monarchs and Rulers, where the scale of the story expands dramatically.
What fans should expect
While fans shouldn’t expect wall-to-wall battles on the scale of Jeju Island, Beyond the System could become the franchise’s most important chapter yet.
Expect:
-Jinwoo formally establishing Ahjin Guild.
-More world-building as international Hunters and political tensions enter the picture.
-The long-awaited return to the mysterious Double Dungeon.
-Major answers about the origin of the System and Jinwoo’s extraordinary powers.
-The groundwork for the Monarchs storyline that follows.
In many ways, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System would be more like the bridge between Jinwoo becoming the world’s strongest Hunter and discovering why he was chosen in the first place.
For longtime manhwa readers, that’s reason enough to be excited. And for anime-only viewers, the movie could deliver the biggest revelation the franchise has seen so far.
