Years of hard work behind CWG success: Gyaneshwari

Commonwealth Games silver medallist Gyaneshwari Yadav has revealed that battling severe menstrual cramps during the competition was one of the toughest challenges she faced on her way to the podium. Despite the physical discomfort, the young Indian weightlifter remained focused on her goal, drawing strength from years of sacrifice, relentless training and the dream of making her country proud.

Speaking after her impressive performance at the Commonwealth Games, Yadav said the medal was the result of years of perseverance and determination. She admitted that competing while dealing with menstrual cramps tested both her physical endurance and mental resilience, but giving up was never an option.

“It was one of the biggest challenges I have faced during a competition,” Yadav said. “The pain was intense, but I kept reminding myself why I had trained so hard. I knew this was my opportunity to represent India and win a medal, and that thought kept me motivated throughout the event.”

The silver medal marks another significant milestone in Yadav’s growing career and reflects the sacrifices she and her family have made over the years. Behind the achievement lies a story of discipline, persistence and unwavering support from her parents, who encouraged her to pursue weightlifting despite the many obstacles along the way.

Yadav fondly recalled her father’s influence on her sporting journey. Although he never competed professionally, he was passionate about bodybuilding and always dreamed of seeing his daughter bring glory to the nation. His encouragement became a constant source of inspiration during difficult phases of her career.

“I remembered my father’s dream every time I stepped onto the platform,” she said. “He always believed I could achieve something special for India. Whenever training became difficult or I felt exhausted, I thought about his sacrifices and his faith in me. That gave me the strength to keep going.”

The road to Commonwealth Games success was far from easy. Yadav spent years training rigorously, overcoming injuries, physical fatigue and intense competition while balancing the expectations that come with representing the country at the highest level. Countless hours in the gym, strict dietary discipline and unwavering commitment eventually paid off with a podium finish on one of the biggest stages in international sport.

Even as she celebrated her silver medal, Yadav made it clear that her journey is far from complete. The Indian lifter has already shifted her focus to the upcoming Asian Games, where she hopes to build on her recent success against an even stronger field of competitors.

With renewed confidence and valuable international experience under her belt, Yadav believes the Commonwealth Games performance has strengthened her belief in her abilities. Her inspiring story of overcoming pain, adversity and years of struggle serves as a reminder that success in elite sport is built not only on talent but also on resilience, determination and an unshakeable commitment to achieving one’s dreams.
