Vodafone India posts Rs 51,970 crore profit in Q4; promoter group to infuse Rs 4,730 crore

New Delhi: Indiaโ€™s third largest telecom operator Vodafone Idea is finally seeing green shoots. On Saturday, It posted a net profit of Rs 51,970 crore in Q4 FY 26, thanks to a one-time accounting gain from govtโ€™s adjusted gross revenue (AGR) relief โ€” versus a loss of Rs 7,166 crore in same quarter previous fiscal. The same day, promoter Aditya Birla Group committed a capital infusion of Rs 4,730 crore via one of its companies Suryaja Investments Pte Ltd, Singapore.The companyโ€™s board has approved the issuance of up to 430 crore warrants, each convertible into an equity share, representing a 3.82% stake, to Suryaja Investments at an issue price of Rs 11 per warrant, according to an exchange filing.โ€œ25% of the Warrant Exercise Price shall be payable at the time of subscription of Warrants, and the balance 75% of the Warrant Exercise Price shall be payable by the warrant holder at the time of exercise of the right attached to the warrant to subscribe to equity shares,โ€ the filing said.Last December, govt had frozen Vodafone Ideaโ€™s AGR dues at Rs 87,695 crore. Subsequently this April govt cut VIโ€™s AGR dues by Rs 23,600 crore to Rs 64,046 crore after recalculation, deferring the bulk of its payments by 10 years, to be paid from FY36 to FY41.
