Malayalam rapper and song writer Hirandas Murali, known popularly as Vedan, approached the Kerala High Court on Friday (August 1, 2025) seeking anticipatory bail in connection with a rape case the Thrikkakara police registered against him on Thursday (July 31, 2025).

The case was registered after a young woman doctor approached the Kochi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) with a complaint that Vedan sexually assaulted her in Kochi and Kozhikode on multiple occasions from 2021 to 2023 on the โ€œassuranceโ€ of marriage.

She said she chose to register the complaint after she came to know of another woman who had a similar experience with Vedan.

The High Court is expected to consider Vedanโ€™s bail plea post noon on Friday.
