Rajasthan Royals need to brace up for unbeaten Punjab Kings
Riyan Parag, struggling for form this season, will need to lead from the front if his side is to challenge a dominant Punjab Kings in their Indian Premier League clash on Tuesday.
` They have emerged as one of the most consistent and reliable teams in the competitionโqualities that had eluded them for years.
While Virat Kohli has long been regarded as the benchmark for chasing in T20 cricket, Iyer is beginning to build a similar reputation. His composure both as captain and batter has been instrumental in keeping Punjab unbeaten so far this season.
Beyond Iyerโs leadership, the team has clicked as a cohesive unit. Last year, they achieved the improbable by defending the lowest total in IPL history. More recently, in New Delhi, they chased down a mammoth 265-run target with remarkable ease, showcasing their batting depth and confidence.

Their impressive runโsix wins in seven matches, with one washoutโhas been powered by the explosive opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. The duo set the tone in that record chase by smashing 116 runs in the powerplay, putting the opposition under immediate pressure.
Although Punjabโs bowlers conceded heavily in that high-scoring encounter, the conditions and small boundaries offered them little assistance, making it difficult to contain the opposition.
As they play their final home game before shifting to Dharamsala for the last phase of league matches, Punjab Kings will look to continue their dominance against Rajasthan Royals.
The Royals, after a strong start with four consecutive wins, have lost momentum in the middle stages of the tournament. Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has delivered standout performances, but the team has struggled with consistency overall.
Eight matches into the campaign, Parag has managed only 88 runs in as many innings, with a modest strike rate of 112.82. The mounting pressure on the captain is evident as the tournament progresses.
In their previous outing, Sunrisers Hyderabad comfortably chased down a target of 229 against Rajasthan, exposing weaknesses in both their bowling and fielding departments.
Reflecting on the upcoming game, Parag noted the uncertainty surrounding conditions. โEvery venue is different, every match demands a new approach. We donโt yet know how Chandigarh will play. They chased a big total in Delhi, but this is a new ground with different conditions. Hopefully, it wonโt be as high-scoring,โ he said.

Punjab Kings had earlier piled up 254 runs at home, underlining their batting strength. Given their opponentsโ formidable chasing ability, Rajasthan Royals may prefer to bowl first in an attempt to gain an early advantage.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm.
