The Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) clinched the team title at the Elite Womenโ€™s Boxing Tournament on Tuesday, bagging nine medals including three gold, three silver and three bronze, as several of Indiaโ€™s top female boxers delivered strong performances.

Among RSPBโ€™s gold medal winners was Babirojsana Chanu (57kg), who scored a commanding 5:0 victory over Kamaljeet Kaur of All India Police. Prachi (60kg) and Jyoti (51kg) also struck gold, with Jyoti declared the winner after Telanganaโ€™s Nikhat Zareen withdrew due to injury.

ย

World and Commonwealth Games champion Nitu Ghanghas (Haryana) took the 48kg crown with a 4:1 split decision against Chanchal of SAI NCOE. Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain, representing the TOPS core group, was handed a walkover win in the 75kg final following Lashu Yadavโ€™s withdrawal.

ย

Lovlina expressed satisfaction with her preparation ahead of the World Championships in September, calling the tournament โ€œan intense and motivating experience.โ€

ย

โ€œItโ€™s the perfect start before I head overseas for the next phase of my training. The competition here was tough and that only strengthens my resolve,โ€ said Lovlina after securing her title.

ย

World champion Saweety Boora, representing SAI NCOE, also triumphed with a convincing 5:0 win over RSPBโ€™s Alfiya in the heavyweight division. Her win contributed to SAI NCOEโ€™s impressive medal haul of seven, including two gold.

ย

The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Core and Development squad added three gold medals to complete the top-three finishers among units. Preeti won the 54kg title, while former Youth world champion Ankushita Boro (65kg) overcame Railwaysโ€™ Shashi 3:2 in a close contest.

ย

SAI NCOEโ€™s Ritika took gold in the 80+kg category, while Delhiโ€™s Shivani stood atop the podium in the 70kg division.
