Indian lifters bag 4 gold
Indian weightlifters delivered an impressive performance at the ongoing Commonwealth Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships along with the Universal Cup in Apia, clinching four gold medals on the second day of competition.
Sunil Singh led the charge by securing gold in the menโs 65kg category with a total lift of 271kg, comprising 126kg in the snatch and 145kg in the clean and jerk. Aisangfa Gogoi also stood atop the podium in the womenโs 58kg division, while Abhinob Gogoi claimed gold in the menโs 71kg category.
Aisangfa registered a combined lift of 185kg (79kg in snatch and 106kg in clean and jerk) to take the top honours, while Abhinob produced a total of 284kg (129kg in snatch and 155kg in clean and jerk) to secure his victory in the 71kg division.

In the Universal Cup segment, Charu Pesi from Arunachal Pradesh added to Indiaโs medal tally by winning gold in the menโs 65kg category with an outstanding total of 289kg, including 127kg in the snatch and 162kg in the clean and jerk.
Indian Weightlifting Federation president Sahdev Yadav congratulated the athletes, along with the coaches and support staff, for their strong showing at the tournament.
โThese achievements reflect the hard work and commitment of our athletes and support team. India continues to rise as a strong contender on the global weightlifting stage,โ Yadav said in his message of appreciation.
