Brazil defeat Egypt by 2-1 in world cup warm-up match

Brazil defeated Egypt 2-1 in a World Cup warm-up game at Huntington Bank Field on Saturday night, making a strong statement ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Teenage talent Endrick scored the winner for Brazil after Egypt had equalised to cancel out Guimaraesโ€™s opener. The victory against a competitive Egyptian side completed a smooth build-up for Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti, whose team had earlier routed Panama 6-2 in Rio de Janeiro at the iconic Maracana Stadium.

Brazil will open their World Cup Group C campaign against Morocco on June 13, followed by matches against Scotland and Haiti.

Egypt, one of the African qualifiers, will begin its Group G campaign against Belgium on June 15, before facing New Zealand and Iran.

Brazil got off to a flying start when Egyptian midfielder Mohanad Lashin was caught in possession on the edge of the area by Newcastleโ€™s Guimaraes, who collected the ball and tucked a low finish past Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shoubir.

A similar mistake from the Brazilian side handed Egypt the equaliser. An under-hit back pass by Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos gifted possession to Egyptโ€™s Mostafa Zico, who drilled a crisp finish into the bottom corner past Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson.

Raphinha later ghosted clear down the left-hand side of the penalty area and cut the ball back to Endrick, who swept a finish into the far corner to secure a 2-1 victory.
