At the Los Angeles premiere of The End of Oak Street, the actor arrived in a striking combination of couture, denim and a very visible baby bump, and managed to shut down a bizarre internet rumour in the process.

For the August 9 premiere, Hathaway wore a custom Atelier Prabal Gurung sculptural halter top in pale blue silk Mikado, featuring a dramatic high-low hem that transformed into a sweeping floor-length cape. The icy blue fabric was contrasted with a crimson lining, creating a flash of red every time she moved.

But it was what she wore underneath that made the look particularly unexpected. Instead of pairing the couture top with a flowing skirt or tailored trousers, Hathaway chose relaxed, low-rise blue jeans that sat below her baby bump. The combination of high fashion and everyday denim made the outfit feel deliberately casual while allowing her pregnancy to remain completely visible.

She finished the look with pink satin Aquazzura heels with pointed red toes, Bvlgari diamond and ruby jewellery, a sleek high ponytail and a bold red lip. The jewellery and makeup echoed the crimson lining of the cape, tying the otherwise unusual combination together.

In an Instagram video showing off her premiere look, she wrote, “Fake hair, real bump”, directly addressing the speculation while showing her actual pregnancy bump.
