India’s top junior squash talents, Anahat Singh and Aryaveer Dewan, continued their impressive run at the World Squash Junior Individual Championships in Ontario, Canada, registering commanding victories to book places in the pre-quarterfinals (round of 16) of the prestigious tournament.

Top seed Anahat Singh lived up to expectations with a dominant display in the women’s singles, while Aryaveer Dewan produced an equally convincing performance in the boys’ competition, giving India another reason to celebrate on the international stage.

Anahat, one of the brightest prospects in world squash, outclassed Hong Kong’s Pui Yin Chloe Lo in straight games in the round of 32. The Indian teenager displayed excellent court coverage, precise shot-making and remarkable composure throughout the contest, never allowing her opponent to settle into the match.

The top seed controlled the rallies from the outset, mixing aggressive attacking strokes with delicate drop shots to keep Lo under constant pressure. Her superior movement around the court and ability to dictate the pace ensured that the match remained firmly in her control, allowing her to secure a comfortable victory without dropping a game.

With the win, Anahat advanced to the pre-quarterfinals, where she is scheduled to face Malaysia’s Doyce Ye San Lee. The encounter is expected to be a sterner test, but Anahat will enter the match full of confidence after her commanding start to the tournament.

The 17-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent years and has emerged as one of India’s leading squash players despite her young age. She has already represented the country at major international events, including the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games, and continues to make rapid progress on the junior as well as senior circuit. As the tournament’s top seed, she is among the favourites to challenge for the championship title.

In the boys’ singles draw, Aryaveer Dewan also produced an impressive all-round performance to reach the last 16. The Indian youngster defeated South Africa’s Joseph Feast in straight games, showcasing consistency, powerful hitting and tactical maturity throughout the match.

Aryaveer maintained control from the opening rally, forcing errors from his opponent with accurate length and disciplined shot selection. He combined aggressive attacking play with solid defensive retrievals to keep Feast under pressure and comfortably closed out the contest in three games.

The victory earned Aryaveer a place in the pre-quarterfinals, where he will face American Yaseen Shalaby. The upcoming clash is expected to be more competitive, but the Indian player will draw confidence from his convincing opening performances and look to extend his run in the championship.

India has consistently produced talented junior squash players over the past decade, and the performances of Anahat and Aryaveer underline the country’s growing strength in the sport.
