LSG defeats RCB in rain-curtailed IPL match

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by nine runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method on Thursday, ending their six-match losing streak. Sent in to bat first, LSG batters took the attack to the RCB bowlers and scored quickly in the powerplay.

ย

Mitchell Marsh smashed nine fours and nine sixes, scoring a brilliant 111 off just 56 deliveries. Arshin Kulkarni contributed 70 off 41 balls, while West Indies star batter Nicholas Pooran played a quick-fire 38 to steer the team to a strong total of 209 for 3 in the allotted 20 overs.

ย

Out-of-form skipper Rishabh Pant also made an unbeaten 32 off 10 balls.

ย

Batting second, the RCB innings never really took off as multiple early wickets dealt a severe blow to their aspirations.

ย

Frequent rain interruptions reduced the match to 19 overs, setting a revised target of 213 for RCB. While the RCB batters tried hard, they could only manage 203 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 19 overs.

ย

Prince Yadav and Shahbaz Ahmad shared five wickets between them to secure a much-needed victory for LSG.

ย

Skipper Rajat Patidar was the highest scorer for RCB with a 31-ball 61. For RCB, Krunal Pandya (1/31) and Josh Hazlewood (1/49) claimed one wicket each.

ย

As the 2026 IPL season approaches the knockout stages, the competition has intensified, with bottom-placed teams finally tasting victories after a dismal first half of the season.
