Vani Kapoor dominates with flawless 66 in Hero WPGT
Vani Kapoor delivered a spectacular performance in the third leg of the Hero Womenโs Pro Golf Tour, taking a commanding five-shot lead with a bogey-free round of five-under 66. Her strong display at the Poona Club Golf Course on Thursday put her in prime position for the final round.
ย
With three birdies on the front nine and two more on the back, Vani built on her opening round of 70 to reach a total of six-under 136 after 36 holes. The experienced golfer, who has the most titles among active players on the Tour, showed impressive control and consistency throughout her round.
ย
Trailing behind her is Sneha Singh, winner of the second leg, who struggled initially but managed to recover for an even-par 71. After starting with back-to-back bogeys, Sneha picked up birdies on the ninth and 14th holes to finish at one-under 141, five shots behind Vani.
ย
Amandeep Drall and Hitaashee Bakshi are tied for third at even-par 142. Amandeep had an eventful round, scoring five birdies but also registering four bogeys.
ย
Hitaashee, playing her first event of the 2025 season, maintained steady form with two birdies on the second and fifth holes, while bogeys on the sixth and 16th kept her at level par.
ย
Vaniโs dominance on the course was evident as she birdied the second, sixth, and ninth holes to make the turn at three-under.
ย
She then added further birdies on the tenth and 14th to secure her brilliant five-under round, showcasing her precision and composure. Her last victory came in the 12th leg of the Tour at her home course, the DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurugram, in September last year.
ย
Meanwhile, Kriti Chowhan maintained her consistency with another round of one-over 72, placing her in sole fifth position. Three players, including Vidhatri Urs (73), Neha Tripathi (74), and first-round leader Shweta Mansingh (76), are tied for sixth place.
ย
Further down the leaderboard, Lavanya Jadon (71), Rhea Purvi Sarvanan (73), and Seher Atwal (74) share the tenth spot. Among the amateur players, Mannat Brar leads at T-14 with rounds of 76 and 74, while Saanvi Somu follows in 16th place with scores of 73 and 78.
ย
A total of 24 players made the cut, which was set at 13-over 155, advancing to the final round. With a significant lead, Vani Kapoor is well positioned to claim yet another title, but the final day promises exciting action as competitors aim to close the gap.
