Film producer Sreenivasa Kumara, popularly known as SKN, has responded to the controversy around his recent remarks about non-Telugu-speaking heroines. In a video, SKN said people had misunderstood his statements, which was said in a โlight hearted manner.โ

During the pre-release event of the upcoming film Dragon, SKN said he likes to support non-Telugu-speaking heroines as he spoke about the filmโs female lead Kayadu Lohar. โWe encourage non-Telugu-speaking heroines. Welcome to Telugu. I learnt what happens if we encourage Telugu-speaking girls to become heroines. So me and my director Sai Rajesh have decided to support non-Telugu-speaking heroines only,โ he said on the stage.
SKNโs statement went viral on social media as people slammed his comments. The producer has responded to the row. โPromoting Telugu talent has always been my priority. So, I request people to not spread false information,โ he said.
โI have introduced eight talented individuals and will be introducing 25 more Telugu girls to the industry across departments. A light hearted comment has been misunderstood, leading to false headlines,โ he said.
Meanwhile, starring Pradeep Ranganathan, Dragon is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The film, bankrolled by AGS Entertainment, is set to hit the screens on February 21, 2025.
