Pantโ€™s openness to feedback helps in positive environment: Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh has praised Rishabh Pant for his leadership at Lucknow Super Giants, saying the captainโ€™s openness to feedback has fostered a positive and collaborative environment within the squad.

โ€œItโ€™s about contributing in the best way possible and offering strong support to Rishabh. Heโ€™s a terrific young leader who guides the team well and remains open to feedback and suggestions,โ€ Marsh said.

The Australian all-rounder noted that the presence of multiple leaders in the side, including Aiden Markram, adds depth to the teamโ€™s leadership structure. โ€œWe have a number of quality leaders in the group, which is important. For me, itโ€™s about stepping up wherever required,โ€ he added.

Marsh emphasised consistency and impact as his key focus areas. โ€œJust staying consistent with the way I prepareโ€ฆ the main thing for me is how I can impact this team positively and contribute to us winning as many games as possible.โ€

He also credited team owner Sanjiv Goenka and Pant for creating a supportive atmosphere. โ€œThereโ€™s a lot of care within our group and hopefully we can take that atmosphere and show people how much it means to play for LSG.โ€

Reflecting on his partnership with Markram, Marsh said their on-field success stemmed from a strong off-field bond. The duo were among the teamโ€™s top performers last season, with Marsh scoring 627 runs and Markram contributing 445.

โ€œI absolutely loved my time last year with Aidenโ€ฆ we became good friends off the field and were able to be a consistent partnership for this franchise,โ€ he said.

On their batting approach, Marsh stressed adaptability. โ€œYou play the situationโ€ฆ try and have as much impact as you can and get us off to the best start possible. But weโ€™re not focused on necessarily a number.โ€

He also expressed confidence in the teamโ€™s preparation and coaching setup ahead of the new season.

Recalling conditions at the Ekana Stadium, Marsh described last yearโ€™s pitches as batting-friendly. โ€œWe had multiple 200 scores hereโ€ฆ the ground and the wicket itself last year was fantastic and I expect it to be the same this year,โ€ he said.
