The Indian junior women’s hockey team, on Tuesday, ended their successful tour of Europe with a 2-3 shootout loss to hosts Netherlands following a goalless draw in regulation time.

Coming into the match with four consecutive wins, three against Belgium and one against Australia, the team India showed a lot of grit against a technically strong Dutch outfit in a keenly-contested encounter. Although both teams created several scoring opportunities, neither could break the deadlock. The European tour was part of India’s preparation for the Women’s Junior World Cup in December.
