Indiaโ€™s boxing contingent ended the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 on a historic high as women and men clinched nine gold medals at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex on Thursday.

The host nationโ€™s gold rush began with Minakshi (48kg), who defeated Farzona Fozilova 5-0 in a commanding display, combining speed, accuracy, and tight defence. Preeti (54kg) followed with another 5-0 win over Italyโ€™s Sirine Charrabi, controlling the bout with relentless pressure and crisp footwork.

ย

Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), returning after an 18-month hiatus, dominated Uzbekistanโ€™s Aziza Zokirova with a flawless 5-0 performance, blending incisive jabs with disciplined defence. Nupur (80+kg) edged Uzbekistanโ€™s Sotimboeva Oltinoy 3-2 in a tense tactical showdown.

The winning streak continued with Nikhat Zareen (51kg) defeating Guo Yi Xuan 5-0 and Jaismine Lamboira (57kg) overcoming Wu Shih Yi to add further glory. On the menโ€™s side, Sachin (60kg) and Hitesh (70kg) clinched gold with victories over Munarbek Seiitbek and Nurbek Mursal, respectively.

Six silver medals were secured by Jadumani Singh (M50kg), Pawan Bartwal (M55kg), Abhinash Jamwal (M65kg), Ankush Phangal (M80kg), and Pooja Rani (F80kg) after close defeats in their finals.

ย

The triumphs came in weight categories set for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where boxing will reach full gender parity, offering India a strong platform for Olympic preparation.

Indiaโ€™s dominant campaign also highlights the depth and versatility of the countryโ€™s boxing talent, with seven more athletes, including seasoned campaigners Nikhat Zareen, Jaismine Lamboira, and Hitesh Gulia, scheduled for medal bouts in the concluding session.

ย

โ€œThese wins reflect the growth and potential of Indian boxing,โ€ said a team official. โ€œThe athletes have shown resilience, skill, and tactical intelligence, raising expectations ahead of international tournaments, including the Olympics.โ€
