ICC rejects PCB plea to remove referee Pycroft

The International Cricket Council (ICC) refuted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)โ€™s demand to remove match referee Andy Pycroft from the panel of officials for the ongoing Asia Cup. ICCโ€™s rejection came on Tuesday.

ย

PCB had filed a complaint with ICC, claiming Pycroft told the Captains of both teams โ€” India’s Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha โ€” not to shake hands at the toss, during their Asia Cup match on Sunday.

ย

“Late last night, ICC had sent a reply to PCB stating that Pycroft won’t be removed and their plea has been rejected,” an ICC source stated.

The 69-year-old Zimbabwean is due to officiate Pakistan’s final group stage game against the UAE on Wednesday.

Pakistan team manager Naved Cheema had also filed a complaint with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), alleging that it was on Pycroft’s insistence that team sheets were not exchanged between the two skippers, as is the norm. ย
