Hrithik Roshan in ‘War 2’

Actor Hrithik Roshan returns as superspy Kabir in War 2, the new entry in the YRF Spy Universe. The film’s teaser, with Roshan locking horns with Jr. NTR, was released online on May 20. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and also featuring Kiara Advani, the action film will release in theatres on August 14, 2025.

The teaser of War 2 has amassed over 21 million views on YouTube within a day, despite criticism over the shaky VFX work.

Roshan, speaking about the hype, said in a statement, “War is a really special franchise for me. So, seeing the appreciation that War 2’s teaser is getting, seeing how people are pouring their love for NTR, Kiara, Ayan, for me, and the entire team makes me really happy. It is not easy making films of this scale, and we have given our best to make War 2 an action spectacle for people.”

Roshan, who’s featured in several action blockbusters throughout his career, said he’s been a ‘huge fan’ of the genre since his childhood. “…I really have fun whenever I do films like War 2. So, for me, I had the best time reliving Kabir—a character that has given me love from all quarters for years now.”

War 2’s teaser was released on Jr NTR’s birthday. The RRR star plays Roshan’s bête noire in the film, avowing to take down ‘India’s best soldier’.

“I’m delighted and humbled by the love and feedback that War 2 is getting right from the start of our campaign,” Roshan, 51, said. “I can’t wait to see the reaction of people when they see War 2 on the big screen.”
