Ferrari have unveiled a special livery for Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamiltonโ€™s SF-25 cars at this yearโ€™s Italian Grand Prix, commemorating 50 years since Niki Laudaโ€™s championship-winning season. It also marks Hamiltonโ€™s first Monza outing with the Scuderia since joining the team.

ย

The revised design features more prominent white sections on the engine covers, retro-style race numbers and wheel covers, paying homage to the Ferrari 312T that carried Lauda to the 1975 Driversโ€™ Championship and delivered Ferrari the Constructorsโ€™ crown the same year.

The unveiling comes after a disappointing weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix, where both Ferrari drivers retired following crashes. Hamilton lost control in damp conditions at Zandvoortโ€™s Turn 3, while Leclerc collided with Mercedesโ€™ Kimi Antonelli at the same section, forcing a double DNF.

ย

Despite the setback, Ferrari remain optimistic after showing improved pace across the Dutch weekend. However, Hamilton has been handed a five-place grid penalty for Monza.

Stewards found him guilty of breaching yellow flag rules during reconnaissance laps in the Netherlands. The penalty means he will drop five positions from his qualifying result at Ferrariโ€™s home race.

ย

โ€œDue to the nature of the track, the Race Director had informed all participants that the last corner before the pit lane would have double yellow flags waved. This was to ensure the safety of those on the grid and in the pit lane,โ€ a report from the stewards stated.

ย

โ€œThe regulations require that any driver passing through a double waved yellow flag marshalling sector โ€˜reduce speed significantlyโ€ฆโ€™. We looked through the available telemetry within the FIA system. We also requested the team to provide us with their telemetry data. All of this took some time and this decision was delayed as a result,โ€ it added.

ย

Ferrari head into their second home event of the season under pressure, but the team hope Laudaโ€™s legacy-inspired livery will serve as motivation to deliver a stronger result before their home fans at Monza.
