As the Indian Premier League (IPL) gears up for a fresh season, Ravichandran Ashwin is set to remain in the spotlight—this time, not with the ball in hand, but behind the microphone. The former Chennai Super Kings spinner begins a new chapter as a commentator, marking a significant transition in his IPL journey.

The veteran off-spinner, who announced his retirement from the IPL in August last year, has been included in the Hindi commentary panel for IPL 2026. He joins a distinguished lineup featuring Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, and Sunil Gavaskar, among others, bringing both experience and insight to the broadcast.

Ashwin’s association with the IPL spans several franchises. After starting his career with Chennai Super Kings, where he played his first seven seasons, he went on to represent Punjab Kings, Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals, before making a return to CSK in 2025.

Beyond the field, Ashwin has built a strong digital presence, with a growing audience on platforms like YouTube, where he shares in-depth analysis and expert opinions. Known for his sharp cricketing mind, he often breaks down team strategies and individual performances in detail. The IPL 2026 season, meanwhile, will be broadcast and live-streamed in 12 languages, expanding its reach to a diverse global audience.
