Aamir Khan has once again expressed his interest in adapting the Mahabharata, calling it a long-cherished dream. Speaking at the India@2047 Summit hosted by ABP Live, the actor described the epic as a project he has wanted to pursue for years, though he acknowledged the challenges involved.

โYeh mera sapna hai ke main bana paun Mahabharata, lekin bohot mushkil sapna hai woh (Itโs my dream that Iโm able to bring the Mahabharata to life, but itโs hard to pull off)โ Khan said. โMahabharata will never let you downโฆ but you might let Mahabharata down,โ he added.
Khan confirmed that the adaptation is being developed as a large-scale franchise, potentially spanning several films. He revealed that different directors may handle various parts of the project due to its scale, and that he may not direct it himself.

When asked about which role he would want to play, Khan said he is particularly drawn to Lord Krishna. โMujhe Krishna ka kirdaar bahot hi prabhavit karta hai (The character of Krishna captivates me)โฆ Iโm very inspired by him,โ he said. However, he emphasised that itโs too early to make any firm announcements. โMain kuch badi cheezein bolna nahi chah raha hoon (I donโt want to make tall claims just yet,)โ he added.
Casting for the project, Khan said, will be based strictly on suitability for each role. โWeโll see who we should cast based on whoโs appropriate for which part,โ he told The Hollywood Reporter.
