Madonna and Kylie Minogue have announced their first-ever official collaboration, Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix). Here’s everything to know about the long-awaited pop reunion.

For decades, pop fans have imagined what a Madonna and Kylie Minogue collaboration might sound like. Now, after years of shared admiration, surprise stage appearances and endless speculation, it’s finally happening.

Madonna and Kylie Minogue have announced their first-ever official musical collaboration, Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix), a remix of Madonna’s dance anthem Love Sensation from her latest album Confessions II. The track is set to release on August 7 via Warner Records, ending one of pop music’s longest-running “what ifs.”

A surprise debut at WorldPride

The collaboration made its live debut during Madonna’s Club Confessions show at WorldPride Amsterdam, where Kylie emerged as a surprise guest to thunderous applause.

The duo performed the new remix together before launching into Madonna’s 2005 hit Sorry, giving fans a rare opportunity to see two of pop’s most influential performers sharing the same stage.

A reunion years in the making

Although this is their first official studio collaboration, Madonna and Kylie have crossed paths before.

In 2024, Kylie joined Madonna during the Celebration Tour, where the pair performed Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive alongside Kylie’s classic Can’t Get You Out of My Head. That performance instantly fuelled hopes of a future collaboration.

Speaking to People magazine about the night, Minogue had said, โ€œThat was an incredible night and an incredible moment. And a lot of people had been waiting a long time, probably including us, but I thought that was just perfect.โ€

The rumours intensified earlier this year when both singers appeared together on The Graham Norton Show, teasing fans without confirming anything.

Madonna and Kylie have long occupied parallel spaces in pop culture.ย Madonna helped redefine mainstream pop with constant reinvention across four decades, while Kylie evolved from Australian soap star to global dance-pop royalty, becoming one of the defining voices of electronic and disco-inspired pop.

The collaboration also arrives during a major new chapter for Madonna.

Love Sensation features on her latest album, Confessions II, which reunites her with longtime collaborator Stuart Price and revisits the dancefloor sound that made Confessions on a Dance Floor one of her most celebrated records. The song recently climbed to the top of the U.S. Dance Airplay chart before receiving the Kylie-assisted remix.

For fans who’ve waited decades to hear Madonna and Kylie on the same record, the release feels less like a surprise and more like a collaboration whose time had finally come.
