A video of Kareena Kapoor Khan paying hearty homage to Raj Kapoor at International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Jaipur on Sunday (March 9) night has won hearts on the internet.
Raj Kapoor, Indian cinemaโs greatest showman, directed and acted in several iconic films including Shree 420 and Mera Naam Joker. Taking the stage at IIFA, Kareena paid tribute to her grandfather by dancing to โMera Joota Hai Japaniโ from Shree 420. She also recreated Raj Kapoorโs iconic โlittle trampโ look from the song: grey jacket, fedora, stick and cloth sack.

Kareena also danced to classic Raj Kapoor songs like โRamaiya Vastavaiyaโ, โPyar Hua Iqrar Huaโ, โJeena Yahan Marna Yahanโ, and โAwara Hoonโ.
Raj Kapoor, a titan of Indian cinema and culture, celebrated his centenary in 2024. Born in Peshawar, in British India, he was the son of Prithviraj Kapoor, patriarch of the Kapoor clan of actors and filmmakers. Kareena is the daughter of Raj Kapoorโs son Randhir Kapoor.

In December last year, members of the Kapoor family met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate hundred years of Raj Kapoor. There was also a retrospective of Raj Kapoorโs films in Indian theatres.
