India’s promising shooting duo of Vanshika Chaudhary and Shiva Narwal produced a composed and consistent display to secure the silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the ISSF Junior World Championship, continuing the country’s impressive run at the prestigious competition.

The Indian pair registered a combined score of 469.7 points in the final, putting up a strong challenge against a highly competitive field. However, they narrowly missed out on the gold medal as Poland’s Malgorzata Dabrowska and Ivan Rakitski delivered an outstanding performance to finish on top of the podium with a winning total of 471.9 points.

Despite settling for silver, Vanshika and Shiva showcased remarkable composure under pressure and maintained a high level of accuracy throughout the contest. Their effort added another medal to India’s growing tally and reinforced the nation’s reputation as one of the leading forces in international junior shooting.

The bronze medal was claimed by Chinese Taipei’s pairing of Cheng Yen-Ching and Hsieh Hsiang-Chen, who accumulated 410.0 points to finish third and complete the podium in the event.

The silver-medal finish further strengthened India’s position at the top of the championship medal table. With the latest success, India’s overall haul rose to
an impressive 16 medals, comprising five gold, four silver and seven bronze medals. The tally highlights the depth of talent within the country’s junior shooting ranks and reflects the consistent performances delivered by Indian athletes across multiple disciplines during the tournament.

India has been among the standout nations throughout the championship, with several shooters reaching medal rounds and contributing to the country’s dominance in the standings. The performances have underlined the effectiveness of India’s developmental programs and the growing strength of its next generation of shooters.

The fifth edition of the ISSF Junior World Championship has attracted more than 800 young shooters representing 70 national federations, making it one of the largest and most competitive junior shooting events on the international calendar. Athletes from across the globe are competing for top honours in rifle, pistol and shotgun disciplines.

India has fielded one of the largest contingents at the event, with an 84-member squad participating across various categories. The sizeable team has already delivered several podium finishes and will be looking to add more medals in the remaining competitions.

With the championship scheduled to conclude on June 26, India remains firmly on course for a memorable campaign. The country’s shooters will aim to maintain their momentum in the final days of competition and further strengthen their position atop the medal standings as the tournament reaches its climax.
