SRH beats MI by six wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have beaten Mumbai Indians (MI) by six wickets in a high-scoring clash at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday evening.

ย

Batting first, MI posted 243 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs, courtesy of a brilliant 123 not out by Ryan Rickelton. Batting second, SRH dominated the chase from the start as the visitors chased down the target in just 18.4 overs.

ย

For SRH, Travis Head (76) and Heinrich Klaasen (65 not out) were enough to outclass the hosts, winning the game by six wickets.

ย

MIโ€™s poor show continued despite putting up their seasonโ€™s highest score, while SRH marked their fourth-highest successful run chase in IPL history on a batting-friendly pitch that provided no competition between bat and ball.

ย

Chasing 244, SRH made 249/4 in 18.4 overs.

ย

Travis Head started the chase in his usual aggressive fashion, scoring 76 off 30 balls with eight sixes and four boundaries, while Heinrich Klaasen ended MIโ€™s hopes with 65 off 30 balls, sealing the game for the visitors.

ย

The SRH openers smacked every MI bowler around the park, as Jasprit Bumrah, who is going through a poor form, continued to leak runs and remained wicketless again.

ย

He gave away 54 runs in four overs, with the first over going for 14 runs, setting the tone for SRH batters to chase down the massive total.

ย

Earlier, Rickeltonโ€™s 123 not out took his team to a massive 243 for 5.

ย

The South African batter batted through the innings for an unbeaten 123 off just 55 balls with 10 fours and eight sixes, anchoring MIโ€™s charge to a competitive total on a batting-friendly track at the Wankhede Stadium.
