Gujarat Titans crush KKR, hand them their fifth defeat

The Gujarat Titans have defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets in an Indian Premier League fixture on Friday.

KKRโ€™s dismal show in this yearโ€™s edition continues as they lost another game on the trot.

ย

For Gujarat, Captain Shubman Gill scored 86 off 50 balls while South African pacer Kagiso Rabada led the charge in the bowling department.

ย

Gill smashed eight fours and four sixes in his innings as the hosts managed to chase down the target in 19.4 overs.

ย

Batting first, KKR managed to put up a decent 181 on the board, courtesy of a quick-fire 79 from Australian all-rounder Cameron Green.

ย

Greenโ€™s knock-off of 55 balls came after KKR saw their top order torn apart by pacers Kagiso Rabada (3/29) and Mohammed Siraj (2/23).

ย

KKR were reduced to 32/3 inside the fourth over before Green rebuilt the innings, adding a 55-run stand for the fourth wicket with Rovman Powell (27), followed by a steady partnership with Anukul Roy (9) to push the total to a respectable finish.

ย

Kolkata is the only team yet to register a win this season. So far they have only one point from six games played.

ย

The only point came in the form of a draw when their match against the unbeaten Punjab Kings was washed out.
