RCB eye victory over inconsistent Delhi Capitals
Nearly a month into IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have emerged as one of the most well-rounded sides in the tournament, and they will look to reinforce that status when they take on the inconsistent Delhi Capitals in Bengaluru on Saturday.
While much of the spotlight has been on Virat Kohli, the star batter has lived up to expectations and currently holds the Orange Cap. However, even Kohli would agree that RCBโs batting is no longer overly dependent on him alone.
Captain Rajat Patidar, along with Devdutt Padikkal, Phil Salt and Tim David, has made significant contributions with aggressive and impactful performances this season, and they will aim to deliver again against Delhi.
Patidar, in particular, has stood out with his remarkable six-hitting ability, topping the charts with 21 sixes in just five matchesโthree more than Rajasthan Royalsโ hard-hitting Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.ย This collective batting strength has allowed Kohli to play with greater composure, knowing that responsibility is shared across the lineup.
In contrast, Delhi Capitals are still struggling to find stability in their batting unit. Despite having experienced names like KL Rahul, Pathum Nissanka, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller and Nitish Rana, none have managed to deliver consistently. Their current fifth-place standing with four points appears somewhat flattering, given their overall performances.
Youngster Sameer Rizvi has been a rare bright spot, scoring two half-centuries, while the rest of the batting line-up has struggled, contributing to losses in their last two matches.

Notably, Delhiโs only wins this season have come against Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, both of whom have also endured poor runs of form.
Captain Axar Patel has had a disappointing campaign so far, managing just three wickets and scoring only three runs in four matches.

Their bowling unit too has lacked consistency. Star spinner Kuldeep Yadav has struggled, picking up only three wickets while conceding runs at close to 10 per over. Pacers Mukesh Kumar and T Natarajan have also been unable to deliver consistently.

Containing RCBโs in-form batting lineup, which is firing on all cylinders, will be a major challenge for Delhi.ย RCB, meanwhile, also boast a strong bowling attack led by Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, with the team finding the right combinations and execution, especially at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Vice-captain Jitesh Sharma highlighted the teamโs tactical approach, saying, โThis year, we are reading the pitch well, adapting accordingly, and working strategically. Thatโs why weโve been successful in our home games. It shows we are playing smart and efficient cricket.โ
Unless Delhiโs batters rediscover form and adaptability, the contest risks becoming one-sided, much like the previous matches played at this venue.
The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.
