RCB routs CSK by 43 runs
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings by a margin of 43 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Sunday night.
ย
Batting first, RCB posted a commanding 250 runs in their allotted 20 overs with blistering knocks from Tim David, Captain Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal.
ย
RCB bowlers maintained a tight line and length to restrict the visitors to 207 all out in 19.4 overs.
ย
Padikkal scored 50 off 29 balls and David smashed 70 off just 25 deliveries, giving a towelling to the clueless Super Kings bowlers in an exhibition of mind-blowing range-hitting, while Patidar supported them with an unbeaten 48 off 19 balls.
ย
Once Sanju Samson, Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ayush Mhatre walked back with just 30 on the board, CSKโs chase was doomed.
ย
Pacer Jacob Duffy (2/58) did the bulk of the damage in this phase, getting rid of Samson and Gaikwad as both fell to catches by Padikkal at first slip.
ย
Sarfaraz Khan scored a quick 50 off 25 deliveries, giving some hope to the visitors, but RCB bowlers maintained tight control of the game.
ย
Krunal Pandya (2/36) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/41) returned to oust Prashant Veer (43) and end a 57-run alliance between him and Jamie Overton (37) as the storied Southern Derby ended without any real spark.
