Rawalโ€™s World Cup dream ends in agony

Team Indiaโ€™s Womenโ€™s World Cup campaign has suffered a setback with star opener Pratika Rawal officially ruled out of the tournament following a serious injury sustained during the rain-affected clash at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

ย

Rawal, one of Indiaโ€™s most consistent performers this season, slipped and fell awkwardly near the boundary ropes while attempting a brave stop in the outfield. Wincing in pain, she had to be helped off the field by the teamโ€™s support staff and did not return for the rest of Indiaโ€™s bowling innings or to open the chase in the match which was eventually abandoned.

ย

The news of her injury sent shockwaves through the Indian dressing room. Rawal, who has been the heartbeat of Indiaโ€™s campaign, her runs setting the tone for many of Indiaโ€™s victories, will now miss the remainder of the tournament.

ย

Her absence leaves not just a gap at the top of the order, but also an emotional void in the side. Teammates were seen visibly shaken as word spread of her withdrawal. For a team built on unity and belief, losing a player of Rawalโ€™s caliber and spirit is a crushing blow.

ย

As India regroup to continue their World Cup journey, one message rings clear: theyโ€™ll be playing the rest of the campaign for Rawal.
