Bhagat strikes double gold at Australian Para Badminton 2025
Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat struck double gold while compatriot Sukant Kadam returned with a gold and silver as India reigned supreme at the Australian Para Badminton International 2025, finishing atop the medals tally with a commanding all-round display.

Bhagat clinched the menโs singles SL3 title after overcoming fellow Indian Manoj Sarkar 21โ15, 21โ17 in the final before teaming up with Kadam to secure the menโs doubles SL3โSL4 crown. The pair defeated the Indian duo of Umesh Vikram Kumar and Surya Kant Yadav 21โ11, 19โ21, 21โ18 in a gripping finale.

“I’m really happy to win two gold medals here in Australia. The match against Manoj was tough, we know each other’s game so well, and itโs always a challenge when we face off,” Bhagat said after his victory.

Kadam, who settled for silver in menโs singles SL4 following a narrow 21โ23, 21โ14, 19โ21 defeat to Surya Kant, lauded Indiaโs overall showing, calling it a โtestament to the nationโs growing strength in para-badminton.โ

Indiaโs golden run continued with Manasi Joshi claiming two titles, the womenโs singles SL3 and the mixed doubles SL3โSU5 with Ruthick Ragupathi. Ruthick added a second gold to his tally, pairing with Chirag Baretha to win the menโs doubles SU5 title.

In other events, the Indian duo of Sivarajan Solaimalai and Sudarshan Muthuswamy secured gold and silver in menโs doubles SH6, while Yashodhan Ravankole and Dheeraj Saini captured the menโs doubles SU5 gold. Sarumathi capped off the campaign with victory in the womenโs singles SL4 + SU5, defeating Australiaโs Zashka Gunson.
