Commerce and Industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday that no power on earth can prevent India from becoming a developed nation by 2047, with the government taking multiple steps to boost infrastructure, domestic economy, and international trade.Speaking at the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) in Mumbai, Goyal added that the world looks upon India with trust and confidence, recognising the countryโs high-quality talent, skill, goods and services, and timely delivery commitments, PTI reported.
โFrom being a participant to now being a principal architect of the fintech world, India leads global initiatives,โ he said, emphasising the countryโs expanding role in global technology and trade.โI think no power on earth can stop India from becoming a developed and prosperous nation when we celebrate 100 years of independence. And this cannot happen without the adoption of technology, without the digital world keeping abreast with what is happening in the world, without our trade partnerships increasing across the world. And all of this rests on India being looked upon as a trusted partner of the world,โ Goyal added. The minister projected that as India aspires to become a USD 30, 32, or 35 trillion economy by 2047, โour friends from the finance world can quickly do the math and you will see that achieving this is very much in the realm of possibilityโฆsomething that we are all collectively committed to achieve.โGoyal said the government is taking large-scale measures to strengthen the domestic economy, focusing on infrastructure development and consumption-led growth. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to expand international trade, noting that global turbulence has not deterred Indiaโs trade ambitions. He described the country as being at an inflexion point, with strong macroeconomic fundamentals, growing trade relations with developed nations, and initiatives to empower customers with high-quality goods at low taxes. On Indiaโs exports, Goyal said the growth in combined goods and services shipments is estimated at 4โ5 per cent, with official data to be released next week.
