Lionel Messi and Telasco Segovia both netted twice as Inter Miami thrashed the New York Red Bulls 5-1 in Major League Soccer.

ย

Messi finished with two goals and two assists in yet another dazzling display. It was the Argentineโ€™s sixth multi-goal performance in his last seven matches.

ย

His brace saw him become just the fifth player in MLS history to register at least 35 goals and 25 assists over a two-year span, joining Robbie Keane (2013-14), Sebastian Giovinco (2015-16), Carlos Vela (2018-19) and Cucho Hernรกndez (2023-24).

ย

Miami took charge midway through the first half, scoring twice in three minutes to swing the match. Messiโ€™s perfectly weighted pass set up Jordi Alba to equalise in the 24th minute, before another lofted ball from Messi picked out Segovia for his first goal of the night.

ย

Messi added his name to the scoresheet in the 60th minute with a breakaway strike and chested down Luis Suรกrezโ€™s delivery before blasting home his second โ€” and 18th goal of the season โ€” in the 75th minute.

ย

Segovia also bagged a brace to round off a dominant win for Miami, who have now comfortably won their last three meetings with the Red Bulls, having beaten them 6-2 in May 2024 and 4-1 in May 2025.

ย

The defeat marked just the second time this season that New York have lost at home, falling to 8-2-2. The Red Bullsโ€™ 26 points from their first 11 home matches had been the second-best start at home in franchise history.

ย

The five goals conceded were the most New York have allowed all season. Miami improved to 12-4-5 with the win, tightening their grip near the top of the table.
