Mizoramโ€™s capital is gearing up for its second international urban downhill mountain biking challenge, with officials confirming that Aizawl will once again host the Red Bull Aizawl Tlang Ruam this November.

ย

The announcement was made following a high-level review meeting chaired by Sports and Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, who met with key government officials, event partners and community leaders to assess preparations for the high-adrenaline race.

ย

The race, which gained international attention last year as Asiaโ€™s first urban downhill biking event, is being scaled up to deliver a more demanding course and a broader rider base.

ย

โ€œAizawl Tlang Ruam is a symbol of Mizoram’s growing capacity to host world-class events. Beyond being a sport, it is an opportunity to foster youth engagement, local economic growth, and global connectivity,โ€ said Hmar, underlining the broader ambition behind the sporting spectacle.

The inaugural edition in October 2024 brought together elite downhill bikers from around the world and helped cement Mizoramโ€™s place on the global adventure sports map. Riders navigated steep, winding stairways and narrow alleys in a thrilling display of endurance and precision, set against the cityโ€™s striking urban topography.

ย

Officials at the meeting confirmed that the upcoming edition would feature an enhanced and extended racing route, incorporating more technical challenges and aligning with global downhill racing standards.

ย

The state tourism department, in collaboration with Red Bull and other private sponsors, is expected to promote the event aggressively to position Aizawl as a new destination for extreme sports enthusiasts.

Organisers also discussed the integration of local communities into the event through cultural showcases and youth engagement drives, with the goal of creating lasting economic and social impact.
