India wins all three Asian Squash doubles titles

India performed remarkably well to win all the three menโ€™s, women’s and mixed titles in the second Asian Squash Doubles Championships on Thursday.

Top-seeded menโ€™s pair of Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar made a strong comeback after losing the first set to beat Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal of Pakistan 2-1 (9-11, 11-5, 11-5) in the 88-minute final match. The Indians had reached the final after beating Chi Him Wong and Ming Hong Tang of Hong Kong in the semifinal.

In the womenโ€™s doubles final, second seeds Joshana Chinappa and Anahat Singh also bounced back from a set down to win 2-1 (8-11, 11-9, 11-10) against Ainaa Amani and Xin Ying Yee of Malaysia. Joshna and Anahat had made it to the final after beating Hong Kongโ€™s Po Yui Kirstie Wong and Yee Lam Toby Tse.

The top-seeded mixed doubles team of Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh completed the clean sweep for India as they beat Malaysiaโ€™s Rachel Arnold and Ameeshenraj Chandaran in straight games, (11-9, 11-7. It is their second title of the championships. They entered the final after prevailing over the Malaysian pair of Ainaa Amani and Syafiq Kamal.
