Paras Gupta of India scored a dominating 5-0 win over Sunny Wang to storm into the semifinals of the ACBS Asian 6-Red Snooker Championship on Tuesday after outplaying reigning IBSF World 6-Red snooker champion Kamal Chawla earlier in the day.

The 29-year-old cueist from Agra played well when it mattered the most to defeat the Singaporean contender, who had earlier stunned former champion Muhammad Sajjad of Pakistan 5-0.

After taking the re-spotted black in the first frame, Gupta could not really capitalise. Although he went up 2-0 with a run of 28 in the second, he was not really in control. Luckily for Gupta, Wang failed to convert the chances that came his way and squandered away the advantage to Gupta. Gupta took the third and fourth frames to go up 4-0. It was only in the final frame that the Indian regained his lost touch, making a break of 59 to seal the match. Gupta will face either Habib Sabah (Bahrain) or Ali Al Obaidli (Qatar) in the semifinal match.

Earlier in the morning session, Gupta defeated Chawla 5-2. After taking the opening frame comfortably, he had runs of 47 and 30 to take a quick 3-0 lead in the best-of-nine frame encounter, and he did not let the advantage slip.
