Inter Kashi won their first appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday after the Varanasi-based side were deducted three points for a contested I-League match earlier this year. The CAS ruling will, however, not result in a title for Inter Kashi yet.

The AIFF appeals committee had ruled against Inter Kashi on April 18 in a case relating to their match against Namdhari FC, who were alleged to have fielded an ineligible player, on January 13, setting aside a decision given by the disciplinary committee of the national federation.

After the appeals committee ruling, Inter Kashi finished second in the I-League with 39 points, while Churchill Brothers of Goa were declared champions at 40 points. Inter Kashi then decided to appeal at the Switzerland-based CAS against the decision of the AIFF panel. There is another appeal of Inter Kashi pending at the CAS to decide the 2024-25 I-League champions.
